A deeply competitive nursery in which few can be safely ruled out. Henley On Thames (second choice), Super Tuscan and Bear Lee lock horns again and must be respected, while it would be no surprise if Pride Of Toledo, Washington Royale and/or Beresford Gap made an impact in their first handicap. However, it is fellow nursery newcomer LAUNCH SEQUENCE who earns the vote. Karl Burke's colt has contested strong maidens on his last two outings and looks dangerous switched to this sphere.[Richard Russell] Show less
Spotlight: Salisbury novice winner (good to firm) in July who turned in a solid effort when fourth of 20 in valuable sales race at York (also 6f, good to soft) three weeks ago; can prove competitive on his handicap debut.
Spotlight: Stepped up from his C&D debut to be third of 15 in valuable Goodwood maiden (6f, good) in July, before respectable sixth of 14 in York's Convivial maiden (7f, good to soft) three weeks ago; those last two races are working out and he now drops back to 6f in cheekpieces for his handicap debut; tempting.
Spotlight: Convincing winner in Hamilton maiden last month and transitioned to handicaps when taking 18-runner York nursery (also 6f, good; beat Super Tuscan a neck) next time; may have been a shade fortunate at York (the third looked to throw it away) but he's likeable and warrants respect up 4lb.
Spotlight: Won a Chepstow novice in June; good form in nurseries on last two starts, a solid sixth at Goodwood (Innichen third) followed by neck second to Henley On Thames at York (again 6f); up 3lb but should go well again.
Spotlight: Lots of encouragement on his second outing when third of 18 at Newbury (good to firm) in July; solid effort without building on that when second at Southwell (again 6f, AW) a fortnight later; comes back from a mini-break with Oisin Murphy steering on this handicap debut; can't be ignored.
Spotlight: Plenty of encouragement on his first two starts and he was off the mark at the third time of asking with narrow win at Ffos Las (6f, good) a fortnight ago; mark took a 3lb tweak ahead of this handicap debut but it will be disappointing if there isn't a bigger effort in him.
Spotlight: Showed ability on his first three starts and took full control of an easier opportunity when he won going away at Chepstow (6f, good to soft) last Monday; not well in under a penalty but he still looked a touch raw that day and is a potential improver on this first taste of handicaps.
Spotlight: Went close in a hat-trick bid at Glorious Goodwood (6f, good to firm) in July and he wasn't far off that form when also third at Sandown (5f) a fortnight ago; once again missed the break and hit traffic that day, however; same mark and he could do with breaking cleanly.
Spotlight: Largely consistent since her debut, winning a 5f maiden in June and beaten less than 2l by Henley On Thames in valuable York nursery last month; creditable fourth of seven in Ripon Listed event (6f, good to soft) last Monday, which leaves her 2lb well in on this return to handicaps; draw on the wing looks the only negative.
Spotlight: Built on a fairly promising Newbury debut when beating two others to land Nottingham novice (again 6f, good to firm) last month; neither of those rivals have run subsequently, however, and he hung before finishing well held in a Newmarket sales race three weeks ago; still early days on this handicap debut.
Spotlight: First three starts came at 5f, latterly when off the mark at Lingfield (good to firm) in July; upped to 6f in valuable sales race at York three weeks ago but surprisingly couldn't go the gallop before staying on into midfield (good to soft; Pride Of Toledo fourth); could have more to offer in this first nursery and he's not ruled out.
Spotlight: Gradually getting the hang of things, with third of seven at Newcastle (6f, AW) in June his best effort; off since and this opening mark doesn't look a penalty kick, but he's been gelded and should be capable of better again.
Spotlight: All six starts at 5f; pretty good effort when eighth of 24 in Newbury sales race (second in group) in July but he finished last in handicaps either side of that; this step up to 6f will need to unlock more.
Spotlight: All starts on good ground over 6f at York; second start was his best when beaten less than 3l in a maiden; had been gelded when 33-1 and last behind Henley On Thames on last time's nursery debut, however; cheekpieces go on.
Spotlight: Made a winning handicap debut by a neck at Pontefract (6f, good) in July; got off to a messy start but wasn't discredited when midfield in 7f York nursery three weeks ago; drop back to 6f is probably a good move.
Spotlight: Pontefract maiden winner in June but she's starting to look exposed after seven starts and has been held in 6f nurseries (good to firm) on her last two; declining mark is not enough to tempt with her wing draw.
